Sure, other people try to sell you on the obvious examples of when you would want a calling card. That's so boring, though, isn't it? Here's a look at possible (however unlikely) that could happen to you (in this or some other alternate universe.) You might not think a calling card is very important, but if even one of these events happen, you don't want to be the one person that doesn't have a back-up calling card in their possession at all times. Alien Invasion - Picture all the alien movies you've ever seen but make them even more scary and more destructive and more immune to earth's puny weapons. You know how all those science fiction movies go, right? There's always one small thing that everyone forgot except for one person who saves all of humanity. What if aliens do invade and that one item needed to save everyone is a calling card. You don't want to take a chance of not traveling with one in your wallet, do you? All of humanity may depend on it. Spanish Inquisition - As Monty Python taught us so funnily, no one ever expects a Spanish Inquisition. If you find yourself in midst of a Spanish Inquisition, you might find it useful to have a calling card around to sneak into an office and place a long distance call for a few pennies a minute without alerting the Inquisitors to the fact you're using their phone system. It's improbable, but not entirely impossible. War Games - Now, this is highly unlikely, but it's a possibility. Imagine you become president and are in charge when something happens to bring all the nuclear nations on the planet to the brink. For some reason normal calls out aren't going through. The only way the planet can be saved from mutually assured destruction is if someone has a calling card ... and that person is you. Shipwrecked - While it wouldn't seem to be a priority to someone stranded on a deserted island without a phone system, but what if (granted, it's a large what-if) you happen to crash on an island that bears strange resemblances to a certain US television show. That's right. You're on a deserted bunker and find a phone system that only accepts calling cards. If you failed to pack your calling card on your trip, insisting like the captains of the Titanic that nothing would happen, you'd be sore out of luck. Don't ever take the chance and leave your calling card behind. As was stated, these situations are far fetched and you might not ever find yourself in one of them, but what if you do. What then? Will you be ready with a handy, convenient and cost saving calling card? For the sake of humanity, I hope so.
