This is the latest in a series of articles which were the result of some web based research I have spent some time on recently regarding potential alternative fuel solutions. These articles can be found at my Water 4 Gas Blog Believe it or not, Fred Flintstone was dead on with his foot powered automobile!!! Yep, that is the destination to which my research took me! Fred’s only mistake is that as an a cartoon character he was restricted in his potential to “think in abstracts” and postulate the bigger picture! Creative individuals are coming to realize that a significant natural resource for alternative energy is human effort and it can be done without slave labor camps! Just doing nothing more than the things that we customarily do all the time anyway but by being somewhat smarter about these activitiesas regards conservation and recycling of energy we can provide electricity for large cities! So it appears that ol’ Fred had more going on in his head than it appeared! Well, this is one place where my investigations took me. I also have other articles besides. My focused mission is to make you aware of the wealth of alternative fuel data at my Water 4 Gas that educates people how to convert your fossil fuel powered car engine into partial combination or total water-based hydrogen consuming system. But in that activity I have discovered the creative thinking of alternative energy that I wanted to help publicize some of the interesting discoveries I have seen in my travels with you as well. Some approaches include the floor of a dance club that captures and regenerates electrical energy from the vibrations of the dancers on the dance floor to energy-harvesting shoes that convert motion from walking into electricity. One of these shoes currently being tested can generate about six watts, more than enough to power a cellphone. Besides Fred Flintstone, a familiar icon of 1960s television was the shoe phone used by Maxwell Smart on the Get Smart program. This is a new spin on a shoe phone! Like many of these projects, the health club idea will not be able to keep a skyline lit or even power the spa's own air conditioning. So far they have only connected thirteen machines at one of its clubs. When all of them are in use, the energy generated would tally up to approximately 300 watts, roughly sufficient to operate three 27-inch television sets, five 60-watt light bulbs or several hundred video iPods. If all the exercise machines were being used and were connected ten hours a day for one full year, the facility could generate about $183 worth of electrical energy. At that pace, it would take about eighty two years to recoup the original $15,000 investment. Recapturing physical endeavor into an electrical energy source has a long, strange history (no, not talking about Fred again lol). The first phones, two centuries ago, had hand cranks that generated an electrical impulse to alert the operator when one was placing a. Flashlights that operate by hand crank have long been available. So have hand-crank portable radios. The primary point of distinction between those and these is that most of the new approaches stress recycling electricity that is a byproduct of routine human activities, such as dancing, walking or exercising. Scientists call such devices "parasitic" generators. There are several researchers working on recapturing the energy of crowds. It’s as if someone thought about the Super Bowl or Times Square on New Year’s Eve or a U2 concert and said…”wow! If we could just harness that energy!” Enviu, a European environmental NGO, is renovating a dance club in Rotterdam which will utilize a dance floor that converts vibrations from the dancing feet into electricity. One possible design for the dacne floor makes use of piezoelectric crystals, which generate a small electric current when compressed. But Enviu's 20-by-20-foot floor willcost them $260,000 and will generate only enough power to operate some lights embedded in it. So this could be considered more of a novelty than a solution. A design firm in London has been in the process of developing materials for flooring which might ultimately serve to collect energy from throngs of commuters passing through busy subway tunnels. In one proposal, each step on the floor would push liquid through a microturbine, generating electricity. I just want to steer some attention in the direction of my main activity while I continue with these happy musings in this particular articles series. WATER4GAS is sharing information at a low price which folks can use at home to create a small gizmo which instills hydrogen into the fuel/air mixture that their automobile runs on. What this does is make smaller particles out of the particles that the engine burns as fuel. Because of the smaller size it gets to use much more of the gasoline. By doing this you can reasonably expect to reduce your gas usage by 12%. In reality though many are obtaining 30-50% improvement or even more. Those goblets "musta" been pretty darn big in some engines before. But with WATER4GAS they are made consumable so you can reduce your gas usage. It also helps reduce emissions significantly. This package of info has been purchased by over 9000 car owners already and the percentage of happy customers is about 99%! So that's a start!
