This article is the most recent in a series of such articles based on some amount of internet research I recently did the possibilities of alternative fuel solutions. These articles can be found at my Water 4 Gas Blog As improbable as it may seem, Fred Flintstone was dead on as he “drove” his foot powered automobile!!! Yep, this is a major conclusion of my research! The cave man’s only mistake is that as an a cartoon character he was restricted in his capability to “think abstractly” and postulate the bigger picture! Creative individuals are beginning to realize that a significant natural source of alternative energy is the energy generated from the everyday things that people do and it can be done without slave labor camps! Just doing nothing more than the things that we customarily do everyday anyway but by being somewhat smarter about these activitieswith regards to conservation and recycling of energy we can light large cities! Well it certainly seems that ol’ Fred was smarter than he appeared! Well, this is one place where my research took me. I have other articles besides. My primary goal is to enlighten people about the treasure chest of alternative energy data at my Water 4 Gas that teaches people how to convert your fossil fuel powered automobile engine into partial combination or total water-based hydrogen burning system. But in that endeavor I have discovered the creative thinking of alternative energy that I wanted to help publicize some of the enlightening discoveries I have seen in my travels with you as well. Experiments range from a dance floor that generates electricity from the movements of the dancers on the dance floor to shoes that generate electrical energy by converting friction from simply walking into electricity. One of these shoes currently being tested can generate about six watts, more than enough to power a cellphone. Besides Fred Flintstone, a familiar icon of the 1960s was Maxwell Smart’s shoe phone on the Get Smart television. This is a new angle on a shoe phone! Like some of these projects, the health club concept will not be able to light up a skyline or even provide sufficient electricity for the club's own air conditioning. They have connected 13 exercize systems at one of its gyms. If all of them were being utilized, the electrical power generated would tally up to approximately three hundred watts, about enough to operate three 27-inch TV sets, 5 sixty-watt light bulbs or a few hundred video iPods. If all the exercise machines were in use ten hours a day for a year, the facility could produce roughly $183 worth of electricity. At that rate, it would take about eighty two years to recoup the initial $15,000 investment. Recycling human activity into a power source has a long, odd history (no, we are not actually considering Fred Flintstone to be a part of that lol). The first telephones, in the 1800s, had hand cranks that produced an electrical signal to alert the operator when one wanted to make a call. Flashlights that operate by hand crank have been available for a long time. So have hand-crank portable radios. The difference between those and these is that quite a few of the new projects stress capturing energy that is a byproduct of routine human activities, such as dancing, walking or exercising. Scientists give the name such devices "parasitic" generators. Many of the more futuristic projects center their attention on harvesting the energy of crowds. It’s as if someone thought about the Super Bowl or Times Square on New Year’s Eve or a U2 concert and said…”damn! If we could somehow… harness that energy!” Enviu, a European environmental NGO, is constructing a nightclub in Rotterdam that will feature a dance floor that harvests vibrations from those happy feet into electricity. One possible design for the floor involves piezoelectric crystals, which put forth a small electric impulse when compressed. But Enviu's 20-by-20-foot floor is costing $260,000 and will generate only enough current to run some lights embedded in it. So this is more of a novelty than a solution. Designers in Great Britain has been developing flooring materials that could eventually serve to collect energy from throngs of commuters traversing busy subway tunnels. In one plan, each step on the floor would push liquid through a microturbine, generating electricity. I just want to steer some attention back towards my main activity while I continue with these happy musings about Fred Flinstone’s alternative energy solutions. WATER4GAS is providing information for a fee which people can use at home to build a small device which instills hydrogen into the fuel/air mixture that their car or truck runs on. The process makes smaller particles out of the particles that the engine uses as fuel. Therefore it is able to use a lot more of it. With WATER4GAS you can minimumly expect to reduce your gas consumption by 12%. In reality though many are obtaining 30-50% improvement or even more. Those particles "musta" been pretty "blankin'" big in some systems before. But with WATER4GAS they are made usable so you can reduce your gas consumption. It also helps make emissions substantially cleaner. This package of info has been purchased by over NINE THOUSAND car owners already and the percentage of happy customers is about 99%! So that's a start!
