Patio Furnishings For A Complete Makeover

By: Kenny F Leichester

It is of course, a good idea to adorn your outdoor area with patio décor. Not just for the sake of aesthetics but for functionality. How much do you think you are missing if you have not furnished your patio? Plenty. How can you be contented with only your living room for resting and recreation, when you have a patio that wants more use? Yes, that is right, your patio is perfect for recreation, possibly even surpassing your living area. There are just times when you know that the best place to relax is at your patio.

But how can your patio serve as a recreational place for you without any patio décor? For starters, you want to look at patio furniture. Popularly, these are made of teak, plastic and wicker.

Teak is well known for its durability and elegance in appearance. It can last for decades with minimal maintenance. The price may not be cheap but it is certainly worth it. Some even refer teak as all weather outdoor furniture. This is due to the fact that teak originates from the tropical forests of the east that are well known for rain and sun all year round. So teak easily withstands well against the weather. This also makes teak bug repellent.

Woven organic as well as inorganic materials are called wicker. These materials may be rattan, bamboo or plastic. Wicker can be tough but not as tough as teak. They will require protection from the sun, to last longer. They may be repaired when become damaged however, you will have to ensure it will not ruin the look of the furniture itself. You can also paint wicker furniture if you like. The most preferred types of wicker are rattan and plastic. Wicker is good for your patio if you still have small children. They are lightweight so this is a plus point that teak does not have.

Statues can really change the look of your patio. It will give it more essence along with elegance. However, you need to carefully choose the correct one for your garden. There is plenty of choice available so be wise. Plan carefully and stick to it. A statue that looks out of place is just a waste of space.

Bird baths are fun to have in the garden. the kids will love it too. a bird bath is another great addition to the patio. if you decide to have one, make sure it is well away from the reach of other animals. However, don’t place it too far until those sitting in the patio will not get a chance to enjoy the view. Birdbaths are a treat not only to birds but humans too.

Plants make people happy. The patio is also incomplete without these living things. Decorating your patio with plants should be an enjoyable thing for you. Don’t rush or stress yourself. Plan your decoration first and then work on it. This will exhibit your taste and class. Always remember that to achieve something magnificent, you must always put in a lot of effort and have a little patience.

Last but not least, play around with lighting. These do not prove themselves much in the daytime but at night, surely these will take over. If you have created a desirable effect, lighting can even transform your patio come night time. And to think that no one suspected this when they were relaxing at your patio in the day time.
