This year there has been some confusion surrounding the release of Niptuck season 5 on DVD. In February, Warner Bros. announced that Niptuck Season 5 would be released on DVD on May 20, 2008. However, later that month it was then announced that the previous statement saying that a release date in May was premature, and that no release date had been set.

The company then decided to release Niptuck season 5 digitally online. Seasons one and two were also made available online. Many fans complained that they had all four of the previous seasons as DVD collections in their homes, and that they had been waiting for months for the Niptuck season 5 to be available to complete their collection. People like their DVDs, and there are a lot of fans that were disappointed when Niptuck season 5 had been released online only.

It has been stated that WB gets a 60% profit margin on the digital release of Niptuck season 5 as opposed to a margin of 20 30% for a physical release of Niptuck season 5 (or any other season).

However, fans can rest well knowing that the DVD release of Niptuck season 5 is slated correctly this time for December 30, 2008, just in time for New Years. The price for the 5 disc collection of fourteen episodes will be $59.98, following suit with the other DVD releases. There are, of course, lots of extras that will also be included with the Niptuck season 5 release, and the format presented will be widescreen and stereo sound.
