Newbies Hints and Tips-Basic Essentials for Building Your Internet Marketing Success

By: Ron Woodham

I guess you are new to Internet Marketing, otherwise you would most probably have skipped this article.

But you are reading it, and I'm very glad, so welcome aboard and join our happy band of other Newbies (and nearly-Newbies) who are starting a business - but who are finding it all rather daunting.

No doubt you have your own preconceived ideas about Internet marketing. Perhaps you've read various articles and books that tell you it's all going to be a breeze - but you quite simply don't know what to do next.

Perhaps you have a friend who has tried, and maybe not succeeded in this business, and maybe this friend has been giving you their advice on "how to start" - or if they've had a particularly bad experience, advice on "how to avoid it at all costs"!

Time and again I've seen newbies jump right in at the deep end, before carefully considering everything, and without any proper help and guidance. One thing's for sure - you will be so much better off if you are shown how to do something, and not left to flounder around on your own. Firstly, it helps to have the correct mindset for success, so throw out all those preconceived ideas, and let's start again.

Perhaps you've already "had a go" and tried selling something, either offline or online, but it's not sold, or maybe you've only had one or two sales. Something is just not quite right. You know you need to do something different, but you are not sure exactly what.

Instead, take a step back and let your mind rest for a day or two; you may suddenly see where you can change things for the better. If not, you need to ask someone who can help you find the right way forward.

· Most people imagine exactly what they think they want ...
· Most people imagine exactly how they think their new business will work ...
· In reality it hardly ever happens that way.
· So much better to get the right help at the start, and be shown exactly what to do. You don't have to do this alone.

Firstly, as I said in a previous article, you need to write down your goals on paper, and read these aloud to yourself twice a say. If you do this (silly as it sounds) you really can achieve your dreams.

You need to make yourself a Daily Schedule for your work - and then stick to it. It's a bit like a school timetable. Set yourself a certain task for a certain day, and then make a real effort to get that task done. You will find you'll have a great sense of achievement and satisfaction!

Try to stay focused on the task in hand - don't get distracted. For instance, how many times during the day do you check your emails? Three times - five times - ten times? Emails can be great time-wasters! I know - I've often been guilty of this myself, and can lose an hour or so without realising it. If you limit your email checking to just a couple of times a day, it will give you the freedom to concentrate on the important things - like getting that chapter written!

Don't make your daily tasks too big or too complicated to start with - keep to bite-size chunks, and then when you've completed a task you can give yourself a small treat, and a pat on the back - the feeling is good!
